What we do

We take on engineering work that requires custom thinking. No off-the-shelf configurations, no generic frameworks bolted together and called a solution. Every engagement is scoped from first principles and delivered end to end, from architecture through deployment.

Since 2026 that includes running the whole IT function for clients under a fixed monthly agreement - leadership, infrastructure, security, support and development, with an engineer on site within twenty-four hours when something physical breaks.

Who we work with

Businesses, institutions and individuals. Small practices, mid-market companies, large enterprises, universities, public entities and non-profits. The size of the organisation is not a prerequisite. The seriousness of the problem is.

Most of our clients are in South Africa, which is where our engineers are and where we can put a person in a building on a day’s notice. We take work from elsewhere when the problem suits remote delivery.

How we work

Every engagement starts with a scope. We analyse the requirement, produce a clear specification with timeline and cost, and begin only once both parties are aligned. There are no surprise costs. There is no scope creep without explicit approval.

We say no to work we cannot do well. If the cheaper or simpler answer is a product you can buy off a shelf, or a smaller internal team with us behind it, we will tell you that instead of selling you something larger.

Our standard

Every engineer at Ocalt carries the designation of Ocaltsmith. It is not a job title. It is a commitment to a quality of work that does not compromise. We do not ship mediocre systems.
